A description of the construction of a wooden bridge over the River Aln, in the Duke of Northumberland's park at Alnwick, using the principle of raising balks of timber to a curve by means of iron wedges. The span of the arch was 100 feet and the abutments were made of stone. Details of the costs are also given.
